Legal transcriptionists type out every single mistake lawyers and witnesses make. Our job isn't to

make people sound smart. If someone says, "Them trees, they got so much

locusts," that's exactly what goes in the transcript. We keep all the "likes," "you knows,"

and false starts like, "I was going to-- wait, never mind."

We even keep full repeated words. The only things we really clean up are stutters

and thinking sounds like "um" and "uh." It’s all about creating a perfect, readable record

of exactly what was said, not what someone wishes they said.
