This is the legend of The Wendigo of the North Woods of Minnesota. When winter gnaws
the bones of the earth, the Wendigo walks. Born from hunger, it wears a man’s
face stretched over a skull that’s not quite human. Hunters say its cry sounds like
someone you love calling for help. If you answer, you feed it. Tracks lead nowhere.
Fires die without wind. A trapper once found meat smoking in the snow.
When he turned it over, it was his own hand. He ran until spring. They found him smiling,
frozen, eyes wide with something that wasn’t madness—it was memory. The Wendigo doesn’t
just eat flesh. It eats the part of you that knows better. Subscribe to Echoes
