Was It Enough?

I was nineteen in the summer of '79. Ooh.

First baby cryin', I whispered, "Lord, is he really mine?"

Raising him, doin' my best. Prayin' I'd pass every test. Learning from mistakes,

working hard, a hopeful heart, always on guard. Housework, cookin' and dishes.

Wishin' someone could grant my wishes. Little man growin', another on the way.

I'll give you my best, what else can I say? Moved a few

times, two rooms or three. Same ol' curtains, same ol' me.

Wherever we stayed, pictures of love on the wall. Four kids later still wondering,
