Did you know… New Year’s Day wasn’t always on January 1st? In ancient Rome,
the calendar actually started in March. People would celebrate the New Year in spring instead of
winter! It wasn’t until 153 BC that January 1st became the official start of the year,
named after Janus, the Roman god of doors and beginnings. So for a long time, people were basically
celebrating the New Year… three months late! And even today, not every culture
celebrates it on January 1st. Some follow lunar calendars, like the Chinese
New Year or Rosh Hashanah. Mind blown, right? So… Happy New Year…
whenever you feel like celebrating!
