Your brain is literally wired to make you procrastinate. Here's why you're scrolling TikTok
instead of writing that paper. Ancient Greeks called it akrasia, acting against your
better judgment. Scientists call it time inconsistency. Your Present Self craves instant rewards,
your Future Self wants long-term success. The problem? Only your Present
Self can take action. That's why studying feels impossible until the night before.
Future consequences become present consequences, and suddenly you're pulling an all-nighter. The guilt of procrastinating
is actually worse than doing the work. Try the two-minute rule. Tell yourself you'll
only study for two minutes. Once you start, momentum carries you forward.
