Ancient India literally invented the modern university system while the rest of the world was still
figuring things out. Takshashila was the OG, offering sixty disciplines
without handing out useless paper degrees—it was purely about mastering skills.
This is where legends like Chanakya and the father of surgery learned their craft. Then you had Nalanda,
the first real campus with dorms for ten thousand students. Their library held nine million books,
and the entrance exam was harder than Harvard's. Sadly, invaders burned
these massive knowledge hubs because they mistook the walled campuses for military forts,
wiping out centuries of wisdom in a single fire.
