TikTok Statistics 2026: Sourced Data on Users, Usage and Views

Current TikTok statistics from primary sources: who uses TikTok, how often, what marketers and creators get from it, and what Revid's index of millions of TikToks shows about views and engagement.

100 Essential TikTok Statistics for Startups and Marketers in 2025
On this page

TikTok is used by 37% of US adults, including 63% of adults under 30, and 24% of US adults open it every day (Pew Research Center, 2025). TikTok publishes no regular global user count; its most recent official audience figure is 189 million monthly users in the European Union (August 2026).

Many "100 TikTok statistics" lists, including the earlier version of this page, recycle 2023 figures from blogs that cite each other. Every number below names its source: Pew, Edison Research, the Reuters Institute, TikTok itself, and Revid's own index of 2,377,477 TikToks, where the median video had about 110,000 views and 1,588 passed 100 million.

How many people use TikTok?

TikTok's owner, ByteDance, is a private company and does not report a global monthly active user count each quarter. TikTok announced in 2021 that it had passed 1 billion monthly users; the larger global figures that circulate for later years are third-party estimates. These are the usage numbers primary sources actually measure:

TikTok monthly active users by country

Outside regulatory filings such as the EU report above, TikTok does not publish user counts per country, and it does not split revenue by product. Country figures (Mexico, Indonesia, Brazil) and revenue mixes you find online come from paid app-intelligence providers and are modeled estimates. If you are planning a campaign, the audience estimate TikTok Ads Manager shows when you target a country is the number to plan with.

How many people are on TikTok daily?

No global daily active user figure is published, but US surveys are clear about how habitual TikTok is:

  • 24% of US adults use TikTok daily, and roughly half of 18 to 29-year-olds open it at least once a day (Pew, 2025).
  • 61% of US teens use TikTok daily, and 21% say they are on it almost constantly, up from 16% in 2022 (Pew teen survey, 2025).
  • TikTok is the social platform Americans aged 12 to 34 use most often, named by 29% of that group (Edison Research, 2026).

Time spent tells the same story. In Q4 2024, US app users spent 83 million hours a day on TikTok, against 52 million on YouTube Shorts, 27 million on Instagram Reels, 26 million on Facebook Reels and 2 million on Snapchat Spotlight, according to Sensor Tower.

TikTok age demographics

TikTok skews young, but not as young as its reputation. Pew's numbers for the US:

GroupShare using TikTokSource
US adults under 3063%Pew, 2026
All US adults37%Pew, 2025
US adults 65 and older12%Pew, 2026
US teens using it daily61%Pew, 2025
Gen Z social users with a TikTok profile72%Sprout Social, 2026

Platform preference splits by generation too: in Adobe Express's 2024 survey, TikTok was the favorite short-form platform for 32% of users and 58% of Gen Z, while 55% of baby boomers preferred YouTube. If your buyer is over 50, test YouTube Shorts alongside TikTok rather than instead of it.

TikTok growth statistics

TikTok's growth has slowed from its early years but has not stopped:

  • US adult usage rose from 21% in 2021 to 37% in 2025 (Pew).
  • Across the Reuters Institute's global sample, TikTok use grew from 15% to 37% in the five years since the pandemic.
  • The share of US teens on TikTok almost constantly went from 16% in 2022 to 21% (Pew).
  • The number of people using TikTok to keep up with news has risen 58% since Q4 2021 (GWI, 2026).

One 2026 change matters for anyone reading growth figures: TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC was established on January 23, 2026 to run TikTok in the US, and it will retrain and update the recommendation algorithm on US user data. Expect US reach patterns to shift as that happens.

Prompt to try

Make a 30-second vertical TikTok reviewing the best budget wireless earbuds under $50. Open with the exact search phrase "best budget earbuds 2026" spoken in the first line, then compare three picks on sound, battery and comfort. Use fast product b-roll, bold synced captions and an upbeat voiceover, and end with a clear pick.

TikTok as a search engine and news source

  • 49% of US consumers say they use TikTok as a search engine, up from 41% in 2024, yet only 4% of Gen Z are more likely to rely on TikTok than Google, down from 8% (Adobe Express, 2026).
  • 62% of US adult TikTok users use the app to look at product reviews or recommendations (Pew, 2024 study).
  • 20% of US adults regularly get news on TikTok, up from 3% in 2020; among adults under 30 it is 43%, and among US adult TikTok users 55% (Pew, 2025).
  • Globally, 20% of people use TikTok for news; it is 10% in the US and 7% in the UK by the Reuters Institute's measure, but more than half of respondents in Thailand and Kenya (Digital News Report 2026).

The practical rule: people search TikTok like a review site, so say the exact phrase a buyer would type in the first lines of your script and in your caption.

TikTok creator statistics

Most people on TikTok watch; a small group posts. In Pew's 2023 study, 52% of US adult TikTok users had ever posted a video, and the most active 25% of users made 98% of the public videos. In Revid's index, the 176,367 TikToks with 1,000+ likes posted from October 2025 to October 2026 came from 61,203 creators.

What it takes to earn on TikTok in 2026:

Creator Rewards pays on qualified views: unique For You feed views, excluding paid, promoted and under-5-second views, and a video starts earning after 1,000 qualified views. TikTok publishes no fixed rate per 1,000 views.

TikTok engagement and view statistics

In Revid's analysis of 176,367 TikToks with 1,000+ likes posted between October 2025 and October 2026, the median video had 64.4K views and 11.9% passed 1 million. Viewers left 7.1 likes, 0.88 shares and 0.08 comments per 100 views. The full method and every chart are in our study of what makes a TikTok go viral.

Both samples only include videos that reached 1,000+ likes, so they are benchmarks for videos that already did reasonably well, not for every upload. The full-index figures are published on our short-form video statistics page. Of the 2,377,477 TikToks indexed on September 15, 2026, 523,274 passed 1 million views, 94,739 passed 10 million and 1,588 passed 100 million; the biggest are ranked in the 100M Club of most viewed TikToks.

Across platforms, Socialinsider's 2026 study of 69 million videos found an average engagement rate by followers of 2.60% on TikTok, against 0.45% for Instagram Reels and 0.30% for YouTube Shorts, and 50 comments per video against 20 and 10. The catch: for accounts under 5,000 followers, TikTok averaged 350 views per video, compared with 625 on Reels and 15,160 on Shorts. Which formats get the most views on TikTok?

In the same 12-month Revid sample, challenges had the highest median (182K views, 25.6% past 1 million), followed by comedy (155K, 22%) and reactions (105K, 16%). Dance reached 84K, storytelling 66K (12.2%) and tutorials 62K (12.1%). Faceless videos had a 114K median and 17.4% past 1 million, against 67K and 12.7% for one person on camera. Format labels come from Revid's AI analysis of each video, and the figures show what high performers share, not causes.

A few other patterns from that sample: posts with 4 hashtags had the best median (77K views), no hashtags 51K, and 9 or more only 16K. Length mattered less than people assume: every bucket from under 15 seconds to 10 minutes landed between 58K and 76K median views. The first seconds still decide the scroll, and our list of TikTok hooks gives you openers to start from.

Best time to post on TikTok (2026 data)

In Revid's 12-month sample of English-language TikToks, posts at 4 a.m. US Eastern had the highest median (120K views) and the highest share past 1 million (19.9%); 3 to 6 a.m. was the best window. Posts at 7 p.m. had the lowest median (50K), and 5 to 9 p.m. was the weakest stretch. Saturday had the best median (70K), Sunday the highest share past 1 million (13.6%), and weekdays sat within a few percent of each other (63K to 65K).

How to make TikToks from proven formats with Revid

The statistics above point one way: formats that already earned views beat blank-page ideas. Revid is built on that idea.

  1. Search Revid's library of about 2.77 million short-form videos by topic, engagement tier and length, and run a free deep analysis (up to 60 a day) to see why a video worked: its hook, timed structure and the moment that stops the scroll.
  2. Choose "Make it about your topic" to apply that video's hook style and pacing to your niche, or start from a script or a link with the AI TikTok video generator.
  3. Revid writes the script, builds the visuals, adds a voice-over in 70+ languages and synced captions; adjust any scene in the timeline editor.
  4. Schedule the finished video straight to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube with social media publishing, then check each post's views and likes and remix the ones that did well.

If you also publish Shorts, the same sourcing approach is on our YouTube Shorts statistics page.

FAQ

How many TikTok videos exist?

TikTok does not publish a total, but it said in July 2026 that it had labeled over 3 billion videos as AI-generated alone, so the full catalog is far larger. Revid's index holds 2,377,477 TikToks that cleared an engagement bar, most with 1,000+ likes.

How many TikTok accounts have over 100k followers?

No official or primary source counts them; TikTok does not publish how followers are distributed across accounts. The closest official reference point is the 10,000-follower minimum for the Creator Rewards Program.

How many followers does the average TikTok user have?

There is no reliable published average, because most users barely post: in Pew's study, 52% of US adult TikTok users had ever posted, and the most active 25% made 98% of public videos. Averages quoted online rarely name the study behind them, so treat them as guesses.

Does TikTok still pay creators through the Creator Fund?

No. TikTok pays through the Creator Rewards Program, which requires 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days and videos at least one minute long, and pays on qualified For You feed views with no fixed published rate.
