Revid dataSource: Revid TikTok index, 2.39 million TikToks with 1,000+ likes (October 2026)
How Revid computed these numbers
- Revid indexes public TikToks with at least 1,000 likes (2.39 million on October 2026) and has each one analyzed by AI for who is on screen, how it is shot, its content type, its production format and whether it promotes a brand.
- Medians are estimated from how many videos pass fixed view thresholds (1k, 10k, 50k, 100k, 250k, 500k, 1M and up), interpolated on a log scale. They describe this index of already-popular TikToks, not every TikTok ever posted.
- Brand promotion was added to the analysis in 2025, so branded-content numbers compare analyzed posts only. Production formats are classified on a smaller subset of recent posts; the sample size is given with each number.
- All numbers come from read-only aggregate queries; no individual creator is identified.
- Data pulled October 3, 2026.

Fact check
Popular YouTube Shorts stats we could not verify
These numbers appear on many statistics roundups. We could not trace them to a primary source, or the source says something different. Quote them with care.
“YouTube Shorts has a 5.91% average engagement rate, ahead of TikTok (5.75%), Instagram Reels (5.53%) and Facebook Reels (2.07%).”
No original study found; the pages cite each other (Loopex, Resourcera, ContentBeta). Socialinsider's 2026 study of 69 million videos measured Shorts at 0.30% engagement by followers, versus 2.60% for TikTok and 0.45% for Reels.

“74% of YouTube Shorts views come from non-subscribers.”
No primary source found. YouTube has not published a share of Shorts views from non-subscribers, and the pages give no study or sample.

“Shorts of 40 seconds or more get 33% higher engagement than shorter clips.”
No primary source found; the figure appears only on aggregator pages without a named study, sample or date.

“Shorts account for 18% of total YouTube creator earnings in 2026, up from 11% in 2025 and 4% in 2024.”
Attributed to 'TubeAnalytics / FluxNote'; no primary source found. YouTube does not publish Shorts' share of creator earnings. AIR Media-Tech's 2026 data from 274 partner channels found Shorts were under 2% of total revenue for most channels.
Seen on: autofaceless.ai
“Channels posting Shorts grow 50% faster (or 'channels posting Shorts grew 50% in one year').”
Appears to misread YouTube's statement that the number of channels uploading Shorts grew 50% year over year (Neal Mohan's February 2024 letter). That measures how many channels upload Shorts, not how fast those channels grow.
Seen on: autofaceless.ai, loopexdigital.com
“Channels that combine Shorts and long-form videos grow 41% faster.”
No primary source found. YouTube's own claim (April 2022 internal data, on Think with Google) gives no number. AIR Media-Tech's 2026 study found mixed channels had up to 41% more subscribers (median count, not growth rate) only in some niches, while long-form-only channels led by up to 85% in others.

“YouTube Shorts has 2 billion monthly active users in 2026, more than TikTok (1.59 billion) and Instagram Reels.”
Outdated and reworded. The official figure is 'over 2 billion logged-in users every month', first stated by Alphabet in July 2023; we found no newer global figure from YouTube. It counts logged-in users, not monthly active users, and the comparison mixes different metrics from different companies.
Seen on: demandsage.com, loopexdigital.com, autofaceless.ai
“Shorts daily views grew 186% (or 185.71%) from 70 billion in the previous year (or March 2024) to 200 billion.”
Misdated comparison. YouTube first reported 70 billion daily views in September 2023 and 200 billion in June 2025. YouTube also changed how Shorts views are counted on March 31, 2025 (every start or replay now counts), so the two figures are not measured the same way.
Seen on: resourcera.com, autofaceless.ai
“By May 2025, Shorts had gained over 5 trillion total views since its global launch.”
Misdated. YouTube announced 5 trillion all-time Shorts views in January 2022 (Susan Wojcicki's 2022 letter on the YouTube Official Blog). We found no updated cumulative figure from YouTube since then.

“Shorts account for 10% of total YouTube watch time in the US.”
No primary source found. YouTube and Alphabet have not published Shorts' share of US watch time. The closest official figure is the reverse: connected TVs made up 15% of US Shorts viewing (Alphabet, February 2025).
Seen on: loopexdigital.com, autofaceless.ai
“6.5 million creators upload at least one Short every month.”
No primary source found. Alphabet said in April 2026 that over ten million channels were publishing Shorts each day as of March 2026, which makes the monthly 6.5 million figure out of date at best.
Seen on: loopexdigital.com, resourcera.com, autofaceless.ai
“Shorts creators earn $0.01 to $0.06 (or $0.07) per 1,000 views.”
YouTube publishes no Shorts RPM range, and the pages name no dataset. AIR Media-Tech's 2026 partner data (274 channels) shows higher figures, for example $0.328 per 1,000 views for US audiences and $0.163 to $0.193 for other English-speaking markets.
Seen on: demandsage.com, loopexdigital.com, resourcera.com
“There are 175.1 million (or 164.5 million, or 184.6 million) YouTube Shorts users in the US, reaching about 192 million by 2027.”
These are paywalled third-party forecasts (attributed to EMARKETER or Statista) that we could not access to verify; the pages quote different numbers for the same years. They are projections, not counts published by YouTube.
Seen on: demandsage.com, loopexdigital.com, resourcera.com
“Adults aged 25 to 34 are the largest Shorts audience (21.3% to 21.5% of viewers), and about 58% of Shorts viewers are male.”
No Shorts-specific demographic data from YouTube was found. The shares resemble estimates of YouTube's overall ad audience, not Shorts viewers, and the pages disagree with each other (54% vs 58% male).

How this page is made
Every external statistic is traced to the organization that produced it: its report, official blog, earnings call or press release. The number was confirmed on that page on October 3, 2026, and the date in brackets is when the source was published. Older numbers stay only when they are still widely quoted, and the sentence says the year.
Revid's own numbers are computed from aggregate queries on its index; the method is right under them. The whole page is re-checked every quarter.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said at Cannes Lions in June 2025 that YouTube Shorts were averaging over 200 billion daily views. In July 2023, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said YouTube Shorts was watched by over 2 billion logged-in users every month, up from 1.5 billion one year earlier. Numbers we could only find on other stats roundups are listed separately as unverified. The 3 Revid statistics come from aggregate queries on Revid's own index of TikToks with 1,000+ likes.
How often is this page updated?
Every quarter: sources are re-checked, newer reports replace older ones, and Revid's own numbers are recomputed from the latest index. The date at the top of the page is the last full check.
