Revid vs Canva

Canva is the easiest place to design almost anything, and it can generate short AI clips. Revid generates the whole video: script, scenes, voice, captions, and the post.

Canva is the default design tool for beginners for good reasons: millions of templates, a drag-and-drop editor anyone can use, a free plan that is truly useful, and a fair review record (4.0/5 across 7,465 Trustpilot reviews in September 2026). If you need a logo, a presentation, social graphics and the occasional video in one place, Canva is the better pick, and nothing on this page argues otherwise.

For text-to-video specifically, the two tools do different amounts of the work. Canva's AI video feature, Create a Video Clip, is powered by Google's Veo 3 and produces one 16:9 clip of up to eight seconds per prompt, on paid plans only, which you then place into a design (per canva.com/features/ai-video-generator). Revid takes a prompt, script, article or song and returns a complete vertical or landscape video with scenes, voice-over, captions and music, then posts it.

What Canva does well

  • The easiest design tool there is, for almost any format
  • A free plan that stays free, with a huge template and stock library
  • Much cheaper than Revid per year if you only need occasional video
  • Same 4.0 Trustpilot score as Revid, across far more reviews (7,465)
  • Everything in one brand kit: video sits next to your decks, posts and print

What Revid does well

  • Generates the whole video, not an eight-second clip to assemble yourself
  • Vertical-first: 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5 alongside 16:9
  • Full production in one pass: script, visuals, voice, captions, music, and SFX
  • Publishing automation (scheduling, Auto-Mode workers) replaces the manual export-and-post loop
  • Transparent subscription with published per-feature credit costs

A clip inside a design vs a finished video

Canva's AI video is a building block. You type a prompt, Veo 3 returns one clip of up to eight seconds in 16:9 with synchronized audio, and you drop it into a Canva design where the template, text and transitions are yours to arrange. For a short hero clip in a presentation or a single social post, that is quick and the result looks good.

A sixty-second TikTok or Short needs many scenes, a script, a voice, captions timed to the words and music. In Canva you would generate and assemble those pieces yourself, within a monthly AI allowance (Pro lists up to 20 Ultra AI uses). Revid generates the full sequence from one input and keeps it editable on a timeline, which is why people who publish video daily tend to outgrow a design tool for that specific job.

When Canva is the right answer

If you are a beginner who needs a bit of everything, choose Canva. It costs far less per year, the free plan covers a lot, and you will use it for thumbnails, carousels and decks even if you make videos elsewhere. Its Trustpilot page (4.0/5 across 7,465 reviews in September 2026) praises the interface and templates; the complaints are mostly about billing disputes and slow support.

Choose Revid when video is the product: a faceless channel, a content series, ads, or music videos, where you want the video generated and posted on a schedule. Plenty of creators use Canva for the thumbnail and Revid for the video.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Revid a Canva alternative?
Only for AI video. Canva is a full design suite and Revid does not replace it for graphics, presentations or print. For turning text into a complete short-form video with voice, captions and music, and posting it, Revid does more of the work than Canva's clip generator.
Can Canva make AI videos from text?
Yes, on paid plans. Canva's Create a Video Clip, powered by Google's Veo 3, generates one 16:9 video of up to eight seconds per prompt with synchronized audio, which you then add to a design. Canva states it is available to Pro, Business, Enterprise and Nonprofit users for a limited number of clips per month.
Is Canva's AI video generator free?
No. As of September 2026 Canva's plan comparison lists "Create a video with Canva AI" as unavailable on Free. The free plan does include turning images into videos within a small AI allowance (up to 20 uses). Revid gives free credits on signup with no card.
Which is cheaper?
Canva. Viewed from the EU in September 2026, Canva Pro was €110 per year for one person; prices are shown in local currency, so check your region. Revid starts at $39/month, or $32/month billed yearly. If you only need an occasional short clip, Canva costs much less. If you publish full videos every week, compare the time each takes.
Which is better for beginners?
For design in general, Canva. For video specifically, it depends on the goal: Canva is easier if you want to arrange a template by hand, and Revid is easier if you want to type an idea and get a finished video you can still edit.
How do the Trustpilot scores compare?
Both stood at 4.0/5 in September 2026; Canva's is based on 7,465 reviews, far more than Revid's. Both links are in the table so you can read the reviews directly.
