Choose a cut length that fits the song
Start with two bars per shot, then watch how that feels against your track. One bar gives fast music more cuts; four or eight bars leave room for a performance or a slower camera move. For a 30-second hook at 120 BPM in 4/4, two-bar shots give you seven four-second shots and a two-second ending.
Treat the grid as a first draft. Keep a close-up through a held note, change angle at a new lyric, or repeat a visual when a musical phrase returns. Plan the subject’s clothes, location, and lighting before generating shots so those details stay consistent.
How do I plan a music video around a beat?
Enter the tempo in beats per minute, the song length, and how many bars each shot should last. For a song in 4/4 at 120 BPM, two bars last four seconds. The planner divides your duration into shots on that grid. Listen to the song and move cuts where a vocal phrase or change of section needs more space.
Does this tool detect the BPM or analyze my song?
No. It uses the tempo and duration you enter. Nothing is uploaded. A constant BPM works best for tracks with a steady tempo; live performances, tempo changes, pickups, and silence before the first beat need manual timing adjustments.
Is the shot planner free?
Yes. Planning, copying, and downloading the shot list are free and require no account. Generating a video in Revid is a separate step and uses credits. The generator shows the cost before you start.
Can I use this as a music video storyboard?
Use the shot list as the timing outline for a storyboard. Add sketches, reference images, locations, or camera notes for each shot. The suggested directions repeat a wide, medium, close-up, and alternate-angle pattern; they do not analyze lyrics or identify verses and choruses.
How do I turn the plan into an AI music video?
